About & Contact

Original Team Roping promotes the sport of team roping by providing a format for roping families in an enjoyable, competitive environment. OTR operates as an independent corporation.  Different Districts are represented throughout Texas, Oklahoma and New Mexico. Our Finals Event is held annually in late June, early July in Abilene, TX. Original Team Roping was initially founded in 1987 by Digger Howard, Cathy Chase and S.E. Mayo.  Digger Howard owned the association until he sold it to Tim & Whitney McCright in July 2005. In September of 2021, the association was acquired by Teton Ridge, LLC.
